FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Robert D. Lucas of Seymour, formerly of Columbus, passed peacefully from this life at 8:10 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, at home with his two daughters by his side. Bob (or Luke to some) was born October 12, 1928, in Linton, Indiana, to Sherman C. and Clara Jane (Smith) Lucas. The third of four boys, Bob’s brothers are Sherman Jr., Norman and Bill Lucas. His brothers preceded him in death. On September 8, 1956, he married the love of his life, Delena Baker. She passed away in 1999. Bob grew up in Spencer, Indiana, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Bob was a union pipefitter by trade. He loved playing poker, camping, fishing, mushroom hunting and just being outdoors. He was an avid sportsman and loved Purdue basketball. We welcome family and friends for the visitation at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home 2-6 p.m., Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. Bob leaves behind two daughters, Vicki Ann King (Chris) of Seymour and Carolyn Lucas Tobin (John) of Morton, IL; and four grandchildren, Luke (Lisa) Adair of Chillicothe, IL, Erich Snyder of Seymour, David Snyder of Seymour and Amie (Kevin) Myskowski of Peoria Heights, IL. He also has four great-grandchildren, Lindsay Adair, Evah Snyder, Avery Myskowski and Brody Snyder. Bob also leaves behind his best friend and companion, Jane Hoesman of Columbus.
