Roger D. Barnes

Roger D. Barnes, 69, of Elizabethtown, died at 12:30 p.m. August 28, 2019, at I.U. Health University Hospital, Indianapolis. Roger was born April 20, 1950, in Columbus, the son of William F. and Mary G. Clarkson Barnes. He married Teresa Minor Alesandro July 3, 1998. He was the owner and operator of B&M Salvage since 1973. He loved auto racing, especially dirt track racing, and spending time with his grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Teresa; sons, Roger (Jana) Barnes of Columbus, Mike (Beth) Barnes of Elizabethtown and Brad D. (Carrie) Alesandro of Columbus and a daughter, Kerri S. (Joe) Bennett of North Vernon; brother, William H. (Rosie) Barnes of Elizabethtown; sister-in-law, Kim (Jeff) Sallee of Columbus; grandchilden, Steven Barnes, Joshua Barnes, Nash Barnes, Adam Alesandro, Brianna Whitis, Kayleigh Bowling and Jacob Corya; and great-grandchildren, Aubree Barnes, Gannon Barnes and Violette Robertson. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Barnes; and a sister, Mary Marie Barnes.
