SERVICES: Funeral - Shall be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday January 27, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Military Honors shall be provided by the Bartholomew County Veteran's Honor Guard. Visitation - Will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Burial - Shall be at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Ronald A. Kindy, 82 of Columbus, passed away peacefully on January 24th at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 16, 1931, the son of the late Alfred and Jeanette Kindy. He was a devoted and faithful husband to his beloved wife of 61 years, Carol, who survives. He is also survived by his three children, Bruce (Barbara) Kindy of Orlando, Florida, Brenda (Brent Candebat) Kindy of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Brent (Rawan) Kindy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Ronald is also survived by his sister, Joyce Culbertson of Dayton, Ohio; and a brother, Gilbert Kindy of Elizabethtown, Indiana, as well as many nieces and nephews. After high school, Ronald entered the United States Air Force in 1950 where he served with the Security Squadron. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Ronald's career spanned 50 years with Mutual of Omaha as both a sales agent and manager. He consistently qualified for Mutual of Omaha's highest honor clubs, as well as many national awards. Ronald's devotion and commitment to his clients' needs was evidenced by the many long-term clients, oftentimes including second and third generations. Ronald and Carol became members of Grace Lutheran Church in 1980. He served in many capacities and was a long-time attendee of Bible Study Fellowship. His Christian faith was very important to him and the guidepost for his life. Ronald was an avid water skier and snow skier, even having plans to leave on January 25 with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law for a week long snow skiing trip. He loved to travel and socialize with their many friends. He would play cards for hours on end. Ronald was a great story teller and loved to entertain. He would read several newspapers every day in his desire to know everything happening in the world of politics. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
