Ronald L. Hanner

Ronald L. Hanner, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Millers Merry Manor in Hope, IN. Ron was born in Kurtz, IN on December 25, 1942, to Woodrow Hanner and Marjorie Lutz Hanner. Ron married his high school sweetheart Mary Gail Adams on December 31, 1960.
Ronald was a proud alumnus of Clearspring High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. After graduation, he dedicated many years of service to the Golden Foundry, from which he retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
An avid outdoorsman, Ronald found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature. He was happiest with a fishing rod in hand, waiting patiently for the catch of the day, or traversing the woods in search of elusive mushrooms. His love for hunting and golf also filled his days with excitement and camaraderie. As a member of the Rolling Hills Bass Masters, Ronald shared his passion for fishing and conservation, influencing many within the community.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Waynesburg Christian Church, 10230 W. County Road 850 S., Westport, IN 47283 with Rev. Jay Vanderbur officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne (Put in the memo line, Emily Settle Fund) 555 E. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802, or through the funeral home.
Survivors include his sons, Bryan (Tammy) Hanner of Columbus, IN, Jeff Hanner of Columbus, IN; brother, Nolan (Pat) Hanner of Jackson County, IN; sister, Ruth Hall of Brownstown, IN; grandchildren, Morgan Hanner, Jeremiah Hanner, Cameron Hanner, Kelsey (Andy) Williamson; great-grandson, Grayson Williamson; and his second wife, Maureen Ward Hanner of Harrison, OH.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Marjorie Hanner; his first wife, Mary Gail Hanner; brothers, Edward and Morris Hanner; sisters, Wilma Sovern and Karen Stradley.

I remember sitting at the kitchen table with a huge pile of fried mushrooms Ronnie had found from his secret location. Enough to feed the whole neighborhood. He showed us no mercy when it came to ping pong….. don’t remember every beating him. Always felt welcome in his home. 🙏 Jerry Rae Buchanan
