SERVICE: 1:00 Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 4-8 Wednesday, August 6, with one hour prior to service time Thursday. OFFICIATING: Father Doug Marcotte. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Indiana or Riley's Children's Hospital through the funeral home. Roscoe Eugene "Gene" Williams, 72, of Columbus, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:12 a.m. August 2, 2014, at Hospice. Roscoe was born July 15, 1942, in Indianapolis, the son of Roscoe Henry and Mary Ruth (Herron) Williams. He married Rose M. (Pelley) Williams on June 10, 1964. Roscoe attended Columbus High School and served four years in the United States Navy on the presidential ship the USS North Hampton. He retired from Cummins Engine Company after 31 years of service. Roscoe attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and was an avid antique dealer and collector. His most prized possessions were his grandchildren. He had a heart for volunteering "Giving to those who need you is the most rewarding feeling in this life." Roscoe also enjoyed gardening and wood working. Memorials may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Indiana or Riley's Children's Hospital in Indianapolis through the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Rose M. Williams; a son, Troy (April) Williams of Columbus IN; daughters, Missy Williams Hall of New Palestine, IN., Annie (Coy) Lickliter of Fort Wayne, IN., and Mandy (Joshua Emerson) Williams of Westfield, IN; a sister, Mary Ann (Ray) Dile of North Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Christian S. Williams, Elle' M. Williams, Chase D. Hall, Park W. Lickliter, and Carly M. Lickliter. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Savannah Rose Hall; and brothers, Larry and Leonard Williams.

  2. I knew Gene through both my father Richard “Dick” Bray and during my time working for Cummins in the late 80’s and early 90’s. He was a great guy, and I’d thought of him now and again through the last couple of decades.
