Roy L. Baldwin May 18, 1922 - January 10, 2009 Roy L. Pete Baldwin, 86, of Pine Ridge Road, Columbus, Ind., died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 1:40 a.m. at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Roy was a truck driver for Albert Rittman through Stadlers Meat Packing Company. He retired from the State of Indiana as a Refrigeration Supervisor. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. Roy was awarded the Distinguished Hoosier Award by Governor Orr. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. Baldwin was born May 18, 1922, at Campbellsville, Ky., the son of Emmett Walter and Martha Jane Mings Baldwin. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela R. Shepherd of Columbus, Ind.; and grandchildren, Laura (Anthony) Chrisp of Columbus, Ind., Michael (Ginger) Spires of Indianapolis, Ind. and Lisa McCall of Huntersville, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; his longtime companion, Mary Jo Smith; brothers, Frank Baldwin, Fred Baldwin, William Baldwin, and one adolescent brother; and sisters, Nellie Despain, Montie Taylor and one adolescent sister. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be conducted Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Bennett officiating. VISITATION: Will be Monday, January 12, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
