SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at The Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle located at 701 South Main Street Edinburgh, Indiana. VISITATION: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the church with one hour prior to service time. OFFICIATING: Rev. Mark Myers and Rev. Chris Fewell. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Rest Haven Cemetery Edinburgh. Ruben Verl Hilligoss, 65, of Columbus, died at 2:15 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Ruben was born November 24, 1949 in Anderson, Indiana the son of Richard and Goldie Hilligoss. He married Linda Toledo December 29, 1990. Ruben served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He did concrete work for 30 years, then later retired from Fauricia Industry in 2011. Family was very important to Ruben and God was #1 in his life. He was a member of Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle. He loved fishing, working in his yard, his tractor and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Linda; sons, Matthew and Chris Hilligoss both of Florida; daughter, Jennifer Grimes of North Vernon; step-son, John (Rhonda) Allman of Edinburgh; step-daughters, Cynthia (John) Taaffe of Fontana, CA and Daylin (Brandon) Sims of Edinburgh; brothers, Delbert (Evon) Hilligoss of Nickles, FL, William (Barbara) Hilligoss, Charles (Sharon) Hilligoss, Mike (Glenna) Hilligoss all of Anderson, IN, Richard (Janice) Hilligoss of Lakeland, FL and Harry (Diane) Hilligoss of Lafeyette, IN; sister, Vicky (Ben) Gert of North Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Richard and Christopher Germansen, Breana Taaffe, Alicia (Michael) Nunez, Alexia (Casey) Taylor, Julia (William) Woessner, Braden Allman, Mary and Nicole Landis, Dorsie and Cameron and Becca Richardson; great-grandchildren, Sophia Germansen, Nicholas, Jayden, Gabriel and Skylar Nunez, Caroline and Raylan Taylor and Landon Woessner; sisters-in-law, Glenda Hilligoss of Jamestown, TN and Carolyn Hilligoss of Anderson, IN. Ruben was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack R. Hilligoss and Gilbert Hilligoss; sisters, Dorothy Hudson, Barbara Bentley and Sue Bell; brothers-in-law, Bob Bentley and William Bell; and sister-in-law, Mona Hilligoss.

I never had the chance to thank Ruben for helping me when my husband Johnny was sick before he passed away. Now they are angels together. My thoughts and prayers to the family he was a great man and will be deeply missed.
