Russell C. Barnard October 08, 1932 - March 09, 2006 Russell C. Barnard, 73, of Lincoln Street died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Barnard lived his early life in Linton, was a 1949 graduate of Linton Stockton High School, attended Purdue University and graduated from Indiana Northern University in 1974, with a degree in business. He also held an honorary degree in package and handling engineering. He was involved for many years in sales in the steel industry and also in machinery sales. He was elected to Bartholomew Consolidated School Board in 2002 and had filed to run for Bartholomew County Council. He was a member of Eagle Creek Grace Brethren Church in Indianapolis and attended Flintwood Wesleyan Church in Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid reader and enjoyed telling stories to his grandchildren. Born in Linton Oct. 8, 1932, Mr. Barnard was the son of Everett and Roxie Hatton Barnard. He married Lois Kemp July 30, 1950. He is survived by his wife; a son, James H. (Cindy) Barnard of Greenwood; a daughter, Lorraine K. (Don) Coffey of Columbus; grandchildren, Kimberly A. (Josh) Brown of Indianapolis, Curtis P. Barnard of Terre Haute, David A. (Misty) Coffey of Mishawaka, and Daniel C. (Tricia) Coffey of Jacksonville, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Alaina M., Lucas A., Kevin L. and Jake D. Coffey. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Everett Barnard Jr. Funeral Information VISITATION: Sunday March 12, 2006 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. FUNERAL: Monday March 13, 2006 11:00 a.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. BURIAL: A private family burial will be held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield, Indiana.
