Ruth Jane Bryant, 75, Prosser Drive, Edinburgh, went to meet the Lord at 1:40 a.m. June 21, 2011 at her home. Ruth worked selling furniture for many years in Columbus and North Vernon where she owned her own store. She owned and ran a restaurant with her sisters and loved working beside them. Ruth was a minister for 30 years. She loved to preach the word of God to everyone. She started three churches: one each in Edinburgh, Kentucky and Ohio. She was well known for helping others and was a care giver for many years. She gave her last days helping with the U.S.O., and did she ever love that. Ruth would be sick, but that would never stop her. She would be on the phone to get money, water and anything she could get donated for the U.S.O. Ruth was a rabid sports fan, and loved to fish, mushroom hunt, bowl and anything she could do outdoors. Ruth attended the Hope House of Prayer in Hope, IN. Ruth was born September 20, 1935, in Owen County, Indiana, the daughter of Nathan M. Bryant and Susie J. Streeval- Bryant McMcllen. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather Robert M. McCllen; brothers, Sam and Johnny Bryant; and sisters, Betty Carnes, Imogene Campfield, Martha Jordan and Leona Jordan. She is survived by her sons, Henry Butler, Rick (Kim) Burton and Billy (Missy) Burton of Edinburgh, Danny J. (Joy) Butler and Clifford (Frankie Miller) Butler, all of Columbus, and Jeffery E. Butler of Edinburgh; daughters, Dawn J. (Eddie E. Hibbs) Reeves of North Vernon, Connie (Robin) Hook of Elizabethtown, and Goldie M. (Kenny) Poole of Scipio; grandchildren, Kristy, Kenny, Jeff, Sara, Jason, Joshua, Bobbie, Angla, Amanda, Matt, Nicci, Shawn, Scott, Justin, Emily, Sierra and Zach; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Smith of Franklin, IN. 1. As you comprehend this profound loss, let yourself cry knowing each tear is a note of love rising to the heavens… Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

  2. I loved my grandma very much and I really never wanted this day to come. The real true test is that everyone that came to talk to her and loved her for who she was will always miss those talks and enjoy the way she got the Word of GOD across to others. I know that she is enjoying her time in heaven with all the loved ones. Grandma Ruth, I love you and I will always carry your spirit with me and you will never be forgotten.

  3. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “come to me.” You didn’t deserve what you went through,so He gave you rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best And when I saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain I could not wish you back to suffer again. I will always remember our special times together. Love you, Rhonda

  4. ruth will be missed dearly.. she had such a sweet, sweet spirit about her.. she reminded me so much of my mom who is also with the Lord.. thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

  5. Sorry to hear about Ruth. Our prayers are with you all and may God be with you all and comfort your hearts and wipe your tear away because you all know that your loved one is where she has longed to be….May God bless you all

  6. We are unable to call at the funeral home but wanted to tell you how sorry we are for your loss. You remain in our prayers.w

  7. I would like to send my condolences to Ruth’ family. I got to know Ruth through her outreach to the soldiers and USO. She came to the Edinburgh Ministerial Association meeting and talked about the USO and what they needed, even though it was very hard for her because of her medical condition. She was a good and faithful servant to God and I know she is in heaven with our lord and his son Jesus Christ. Keeping you in prayer. Nancy West
