Ryan Carl Hildinger, 22, died July 14, 2010, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC).
He was born November 16, 1987, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Carl and Mary Hildinger, and was a 2006 Academic Honors graduate of Columbus North High School.
While in school, Ryan was on the cross country team that won two state championships, wrestled for four years and participated in track for three years. He also participated in several social activities including annual canned food drives, and Turning Point dance-a-thons. He loved sitting and talking to friends, especially his best friend and brother, Alex, was an avid history buff and liked playing video games.
After high school, Ryan attended the University of Indianapolis for two years and decided to join the Navy thereafter. He was currently attending school at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, South Carolina.
He is survived by his parents, Carl and Mary Hildinger of Columbus, Indiana; a brother, Alex, of Columbus; grandparents, Ronald and Elia Hildinger of Lake Villa, IL, and Willis Bud Hetrick of Jamestown, NY; aunts and uncles, Greg and Carol Hildinger Klein of Lake Villa, IL, Mike and Audra Hildinger of Lake Villa, Edmund and Rhonda Hildinger Bowman of Lake Villa, Paul and Debbie Hetrick of Jamestown, NY, Mark and Sally Hetrick of Jamestown, NY, Mike Hetrick of Albuquerque, NM, and Billy Hetrick of Albuquerque, NM; cousins, Adam Perkins of Wisconsin, Jamie Hildinger, Nicole Hildinger, Jessica Varsek, Nick Klein and Mitchell Klein, all of Lake Villa, IL, Donny and Barry Hetrick of Farmington, NM, Mary Hetrick, Brian Hetrick, Laura Hetrick, Ryan Hetrick and Shane Hetrick, all of Jamestown, NY.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Rosemary Hetrick, and his great-grandparents.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church.
CALLING: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
