Samuel "Sam" W. Burton, 83, of 500 North, died at 10:46 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born in Purdy, Ky., July 12, 1928, the son of Curtis R. and Pollie Ann Burton. He married Evelyn Bryant June 3, 1950 and she survives. Sam was a retired truck driver. He was an animal lover and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to auctions. A special thanks to Darlene Burton, Barbara Burton and Dennis Goodwin for the extra special care they gave to Sam and Evelyn during his illness. Sam is survived by sons, Terry (Patsy) Burton, Kenneth (Judy) Burton, Allen (Angie) Burton and Randall (Dolores) Burton, all of Columbus, Keven (Shari) Burton and Steve (Tonya) Burton, all of North Vernon; Ronald Burton of Columbus, Tim (Barbara) Burton of Freetown, and Doyle (Carol) Burton and Mike Burton, all of Columbus; daughters, Rita Hedger of Columbus, Regina (Dennis) Goodwin of Elizabethtown and Robin Burton of Columbus; 33 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ralph (Mary) "Woodie" Burton and Clifton Burton, all of Columbus. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Burton, Howard Ray Burton and Earl Burton. SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 10, 2012 at Revival Tabernacle Church Clifford, IN BURIAL: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery VISITATION: 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday January 9, 2012 and 1 hour prior to the service all at the church
