Sara Jane Lucas

Sara Jane Lucas, 72, of Columbus, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at her home. Sara was born on October 29, 1949 in Columbus, IN to Earl Axsom and Lou Eva Mercer Axsom. She married Rick J. Lucas May 11, 1968. Sara was a graduate of Columbus High School. She was previously employed at Centra Credit Union and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She loved knitting, mushroom hunting, baking, listening to music, traveling, shopping and spending time with her nieces and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Kristi Jones officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Rick J. Lucas; son, Darren Lucas of Columbus, IN; daughter, Stacie (Clint) Tate of Houston, TX; brothers, Danny (Jodi) Axsom of Batesville, IN and David (Vicki) Axsom of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Anna Tate, Sophia Tate, Joseph Tate, Mary Margaret Tate, Michaela Landis and Kaitlyn Landis. She was preceded in death by her parents; Earl and Lou Eva Axsom; brother, Don Axsom and sister, Sue Huffman.
