Shelley Rene Hurt

Shelley Rene Hurt, a cherished soul known for her loving kindness and friendly demeanor, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in her hometown of Columbus, Indiana. Born on July 18, 1968, to parents Robert Eugene and Kathleen Louise Clemons Hurt, Shelley's life was a testament to the joy and care she brought to those around her. A proud graduate of Columbus North High School, class of 1986, Shelley carried the spirit of her youth throughout her life. Her commitment to her community was evident in her over ten years of dedicated service at “Come as you are ministries.” Shelley's passion for helping others shone brightly through her work, where she touched many lives with her warmth and generosity. Professionally, Shelley found her calling in the health care industry. As a skilled Radiation Tech, she worked for various chiropractors in Columbus, where her expertise and compassionate nature were invaluable. Shelley's colleagues and patients alike will remember her as a beacon of support and comfort during their times of need. In her personal time, Shelley found solace and joy in the beauty of flower gardening. Her garden was a vibrant tapestry that reflected the love and care she invested in every aspect of her life. It was in this quiet corner of the world that Shelley's spirit could be felt most profoundly, as she nurtured life in all its forms. Shelley's legacy is one of unwavering kindness and an open heart. She lived her life as a friend to all, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. As we bid farewell to Shelley, we celebrate the light she brought into our lives and the gentle imprint she leaves on the hearts of those who knew her. Shelley Rene Hurt will be deeply missed by her loving family. A wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister has left our presence. She is survived by her son, Luke (McKensie) Hurt; siblings, Pam (Carl) Wilson, Diana Hendershot, Art (Susie) Hurt, Terry (Glenna) Hurt, Larry (Joni) Hurt, Timothy (Peggy) Hurt, Paul (Kathy) Hurt, and Rob (Dawn) Hurt; and a grandson, Emmett Hurt. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Teresa Bryant, and a brother-in-law, Ron Hendershot. Services will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 9, 2025 at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hurt officiating. A time of calling will be from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am at Jewell Rittman. Burial will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the family to help with a headstone.
