Sherman Charles Lucas Jr., 93, a longtime resident of Columbus, died quietly in Mooresville, Indiana, at the home of his son, Jerry “Mike” Lucas, Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Sherman was born July 21, 1923, in Linton, Indiana. He was the eldest of four sons of Sherman Lucas Sr. and Clara Smith Lucas. He married Doris Mae Brannan Lucas Nov. 16, 1944. Sherman was a longtime employee of and retired from Reliance Electric. He served in the U.S. Army in the Phillipines during World War II. Survivors include his sons, Mike (Mary) Lucas of Mooresville and Gregory C. (Elaine) Lucas of Bloomington; a daughter, Cynthia L. (Matthew) Keever of Sheridan, Indiana; son-in-law, Herbert Richardson of Columbus; brother, Robert Lucas of Seymour; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; daughter, Janet Sue Lucas Richardson; and brothers, Norman Lucas and Willis Lucas.






So sorry for your loss. My dad, Bob Gross, and Sherm were friends for many years..Reeves Pulley Co./Reliance Electric. Pete Greenlee, Sherm and Dad many good times. I remember visiting Doris and Sherm. God bless. A good man.

So sorry for your loss. I have many memories going to Sherm and Doris’s house with my grandparents Pete and Lou Greenlee. They where always laughing and having a good time. Sherm will be missed. May he rest in peace. Kelli Richards
