Shirley Joann Whipker September 17, 1928 - June 29, 2009 Shirley Joann Whipker, 80, of South U.S. 31 died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Four Seasons Retirement Center. Mrs. Whipker retired from Cummins Engine Company and had enjoyed spending winters in Louisiana the last 30 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and past worthy matron of Columbus Order of the Eastern Star. Born in Columbus Sept. 17, 1928, Mrs. Whipker was the daughter of Marcellus and Grace Rupert Foust. She married Harry T. Whipker Sept. 24, 1965. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Bill (Donna) Whipker of Columbus; grandchildren, Kristopher Whipker and Jenny (Darren) Davis, both of Columbus; a great-granddaughter, Coleen Davis; a sister, Betty Dunn of Florida; and a niece, Karen McQueen of Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Whipker was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Don Foust. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
