Columbus Sue Ann Hoy, 75, of Columbus, died at 12:09 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Sue was born September 25, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of James A. and Doritha (Walsmith) Hoy. Sue Ann was a free spirited soul. She grew up in Harford City Indiana. She started her college education at IU before eventually finishing up her Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and History at San Francisco State University. She resided in various areas in the US starting in Ohio. Her life journey took her through Indiana, California (where she had her son), & New Mexico, before finally finishing up back home again in Indiana. She had a few different jobs in her life ranging from working at the renowned Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco to working for the Solano County municipal government and from book keeping to substitute teaching. Throughout her life she enjoyed the company of numerous feline friends with one, Miss Kitty, being with her for 20 years. The latter part of her life was filled with classic movies, game shows, history based movies, adventure movies, and most importantly people. She always enjoyed a good chat with anyone she met. She was generous and kind hearted with a bit of wit. She loved family, friends, felines, films, furry (and non-furry) animals, forests, and the Force. The funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Nic Cable officiating. Calling will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the World Wildlife Fund or the Arbor Day Foundation through the funeral home. Survivors include a son, E. Nathan (Evelyn Swift) Linen of Columbus; grandchildren, Landon Swift; a best friend, Ann (Ali) Taher, Tacoma, WA; brothers, J. Douglas (Sally) Hoy of Arlington, WA.; nieces, Heather (Kenneth) Stribling, Majda (Rick Bergman) and DaisyJane Darling, Beshara (Greg) Rizzo; Many loving cousins and their families, Stanley (Carolyn) Gilbert, Kay (Robert) Dull, Marilyn (Clayton) Zearbaugh, Richard (Marcelline) Hoy, Wendell (Carole) Leedy, James Walsmith; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her Aunts, Minnie McFerren; Uncle, Robert (Joanne) Walsmith. Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
