Timothy B. Shoup

Timothy B. Shoup, 72, passed away in his home on Monday, December 7, 2020. Tim was born in 1948 in Dayton, OH, to the late Forrest and Lois (Hesseman) Shoup. Tim moved to Indiana as a teenager, where he graduated from Columbus North High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and spent a tour at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, working as a Morse Systems Operator. Later, Tim joined the US Postal Service, and he was a city letter carrier at the Columbus, IN post office for 36 years. During that time, he spent over twenty years service first as a union steward and then as a union president for the Columbus city carriers. In that capacity, he loved nothing more than educating new supervisors on the finer points of the contract. Tim loved listening to music, playing video games, watching Ohio State football and hanging out with his beloved dog Yoshi. Most of all, Tim loved his family and went out of his way to give his wife and children everything they needed. Tim is survived by his wife Jennifer, four children, Robert Shoup, Terri (Kerri) Shoup-Zych, Christy (Joe) Maschino and Scott Shoup: four grandchildren, Elise, Kaylee, Kaytlin and Grayson, and his sister-in-law Judy Shoup. He was preceded in death by his brothers Larry and Paul Shoup. Due to Covid-19, the family will be having a private celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tim Shoup may be donated to the Bartholomew County Humane Society through the funeral home.
