Vena Junie Muir, 84, of Woodlane Drive, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at her home. She was born in Columbus, June 6, 1927, the daughter of Wiley and Edna Shaw Chrisman. Vena was a member of First Christian Church. She worked as a secretary at Bartholomew County Hospital and retired from Reliance Electric in 1980. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Vena was always smiling and enjoyed living life to the fullest. She is survived by a son, James D. Muir of Columbus; a daughter, Julia A. Fox of Columbus; grandchildren, Brian Thompson, Nikki Sparks and Jonah Muir; great-grandchildren, Shelby Thompson, Ben and Jenah Muir, Jacob and Sydney Lewis and Samantha and Nathan Sparks; and her companion, Abad Vargas. Vena was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marie Skinner. FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Jones officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
