SERVICES: 10:00 a.m. Friday April 3, 2015 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Gilroy officiating. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery Champaign, IL where graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. CDT Friday. VISITATION: 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Virginia B. Crawford, 89, of Elm Street, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015, at her home. Virginia was born August 25, 1925 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Jay and Thelma Estelle (Moore) Boyd. She married H. Dean Crawford . Virginia graduated salutatorian of her high school class in 1943, then graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois September 1946. She attended the Columbus Free Methodist Church and was a member of National Industrial Nurse Association and the American Red Cross. Virginia enjoyed crafting for her family, and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and a science fiction and cinema fan. She also loved babysitting for her great grandson. Survivors include her son, Richard (Sandra) Crawford of Columbus; a daughter, Jayne (Larry Hill) Crawford of Monroe, Georgia; sister, Opal Christie of Champaign, Illinois; grandchildren, Alexis (Jordan) Roberts and Logan (Valerie) Crawford all of Columbus; and one great grandchild, Sammy Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Irene Johnson.

  2. Jane and Buddy, I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of being at your house as a child. (your Mom’s blueberry muffins!) Your Mom and I had a chance to catch up on the latest happenings the last time I saw her. I am honored to have been a part of her medical care. She was a truly remarkable lady who loved her family very much.
