Virginia M. Thompson July 09, 1914 - March 11, 2008 Virginia M. Thompson, 93, of California Street died at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Hickory Creek at Columbus. Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Christian Church. She worked as a realtor for many years and loved spending time at her second home in Florida. Born in Jefferson County July 9, 1914, Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of Joseph C. and Bessie Jines Brown. She was first married to Leonard Cardinal and later to Everett Thompson. Survivors include sons, Donald Louis (Betty) Cardinal of Columbus and Keith (Beulah) Thompson of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Delores Cardinal of Columbus; grandchildren, Charles (Jean) Cardinal, Gloria (Jeff) Voelz, Daniel (Teresa) Cardinal, Rebecca Keane, Brian Thompson, Lynn (Lisa) Thompson, Alan (Jayne) Thompson, Randy (Jenny) Thompson, Wanda (Dan) Lunsford, Brenda (Jerry) Prall and Linda (Eric) Scheidt; a sister, Norma Truex of Columbus; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dwight Cardinal; a grandson, Richard Cardinal; one brother; and five sisters. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. James Pursley officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday. BURIAL: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Donations Information Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
