Wanda was born July 3, 1930, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Earl R. and Glethal I. (Wilson) Timbrook.  She married Donald Carey on May 30, 1957. Wanda was a life-long member of East Columbus United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women’s Society. For many years she was involved with the Cub Scout pack at the church.  She actively participated in the Walk to Emmaus and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years.  Wanda loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Aigner officiating.  Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to East Columbus United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Wanda is survived by her sons Douglas W. (Susan) Carey of Rockport, Indiana, Jon R. (Pamela) Carey of Seymour, Indiana, and Brian A. Carey of Columbus; grandchildren Megan (Doug) Shumaker, Shannon Carey, Jason Carey, Lindsey Carey, Matthew Carey, Amanda (Charles) Lawver, and Brian (Melisa) Carey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Carey; parents; brother, Joe E. Timbrook and nephew, Kirk A. Timbrook.

  1. I absolutely loved her laugh. She lived to have fun. I have fond memories of her playing Christmas Carols on the piano when Christmas was at their house. My sympathies to Doug/Susan and family, Jon/Pam and family, and Brian and family.
