Wayne Pardue, a cherished pillar of the Columbus, Indiana community, peacefully left for his eternal home surrounded by his loving family on January 25, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on February 19, 1939, to Fred H. and Donna F. (Burton) Pardue in the same town he would later call home for the remainder of his life. Wayne's presence was a constant in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria (Fraire), children - Steve (Tasha) Pardue, of Elizabethtown, IN, Rosana (Peter) Seifert, of Cameron, TX, Rosa (Eric) Scott and Sandi (Seth) Burton, both of Columbus, Pamela (Richard) Doughty and Katherine Pardue, both of Indianapolis. Siblings, Jerry (Nadena) Pardue, of St. Paul, IN, Bill (Susan) Pardue, of Greensburg, IN, Susie (Pat) Oliphant, of Columbus, Martha Klosterman, of Cocoa Beach, FL. and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred H. and Donna Francis (Burton) Pardue, his son, Wayne Pardue, Jr., and siblings Don, Joe, Gene, Albert, Max and Kenny Pardue.
Wayne's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Wayne's Used Cars, a local business that thrived under his honest and fair leadership. His work was not just a job but a means to form lasting relationships with his customers and the community. Wayne's dedication to his business was matched only by his commitment to his faith as a member of the Revival Full Gospel Tabernacle, where he found strength and fellowship.
A true sports enthusiast, Wayne's passion for the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, and the Purdue Boilermakers (BOILER-UP!) was well-known. He could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, sharing his love of the game with friends and family. His spirited support was a testament to his loyalty and vibrant personality.
Above all, Wayne was a devoted family man. As a loving husband, father, and pappy, he took great joy in the happiness and successes of his grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and kindness. His role as a patriarch was one he cherished deeply, and his guidance will be carried forward by those who looked up to him.
Wayne's presence extended beyond his immediate family and business. His daily visits to the McDonald's on National Road for morning breakfast became a cherished routine, where he was a friend to many. His warm smile and the sound of his voice singing "You Are My Sunshine" will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
