"Pappy" Robbins III, of West Georgetown Rd, died at 12:52 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. William was born October 6, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of William and Gladys McKinney Robbins II. He married Jean A. Riddle March 7, 1966. William retired from working in the turbo lab at Cummins Engine Company in 1988 and owned Robbins Turbo Chargers as a hobby. William was an avid motorcyclist plus an AMA member, and was a honorary member of Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club. He rode up until he was 76 years old. William continued to be active with his family in Harescrambles races until 2008. William built engines for semi trucks as well as turbos for pulling trucks and tractors for competition. He enjoyed attending as many pullings events as he could. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. Most of all, William enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons, William E. (Donna) Robbins IV and John B. (Traci) Robbins all of Columbus; daughters, Debbie Robbins of Edinburgh and Cheryl (Doug) Weddle of Columbus; grandchildren, Aaron Byrd of Edinburgh, William E. Robbins V of Columbus, Daniel Robbins of Columbus, Justin Weddle of New York, Jay Weddle of Indianapolis, Taryn Strahl of Columbus, Catana Philipps of Indianapolis, Dalton Gassaway of Columbus and Demi Gassaway of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Trevor Byrd, Tanner Byrd, William E. Robbins VI, Landon Robbins, Isaiah Martin and Lakota Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brian Robbins.
