William G. "Bill" Mings, 71, of Scipio, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at his home. Bill was employed at Arvin Industries, beginning January 29, 1960, and retiring as a supervisor on May 1, 1999. He was a member of Queensville Community Church. He enjoyed antiques and loved gold panning. He also enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in Knifley, Ky., July 9, 1940, Mr. Mings was the son of David King Mings and Melvina Katherine Spence Mings. He married Wilda L. Lee March 7, 1965. Survivors include his wife; a son, David E. Mings of Scipio, IN; a daughter, Myra L. Luhn of Scipio, IN; grandchildren, Jessica Fields, Sara Leggins, Shane Luhn and Lane Luhn; six step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Kylee Marling, Jaylynn Fields, Baylee Fields, Triston Leggins, Isom Leggins; and one stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Buford and Robert Mings; and eight infant brothers and sisters. FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday, October, 15, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Chasteen and the Rev. William A. Ramey officiating. CALLING: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday. BURIAL: Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Bill was a wonderful person and supervisor. May God be with all of you during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.
I have many memories that I will cherish of the many years that you were my neighbors. I wouldn’t trade them for anything. I love you guys. Bill will be missed.

I am very sorry to hear about Bills passing. David hang in there bud, if you need to talk or need a hug please come get me. God please comfort this family during this sad time of the passing of their husband/father/grandfather.
WILDA WE LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH YOU,DAVID,MYRA AND ALL THE GRANDKIDS ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. OUR KIDS HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF YOU AND BILL AS CLOSE FAMILY THEY ALWAYS SAY YOU GUYS WATHCHED THEM GROW UP IN CHURCH. WE ALL WILL MISS BILL SO VERY VERY MUCH!
So sorry to learn of Bill’s death. We worked together while in our teens at Ann’s Snack Shop in Columbus, not realizing that we were 2nd. or 3rd.cousins. He was a good friend and a very nice person. Please accept our condolances from myself as well as my family.
