William Lee Bohlender, 93, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope. He was born August 3, 1929, in Phillipsburg, Ohio, the son of Homer G. and Mary E. (Bliss) Bohlender. Lee married Mary Catherine Dill on August 17, 1969 and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2017 after 48 years of marriage. Lee was a 1947 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. He served his country in the US Army, stationed in Japan. Lee played profession minor league baseball for 8 years and retired as a policeman and fireman with the Oakwood, Ohio Police and Fire Department. There will be a private graveside service for family to be held at a later date in Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in memory of Lee. Arrangements are entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Lee is survived by his step daughter, Pat (Jan A.) Wettschurack; step son, Frank Ernest (Jeanine) Dill; 5 grandchildren, Darin (Carol) Wettschurack, Erik (Gretchen) Wettschurack, Nikkole Haberstroh, Derik Dill, Keith Dill and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents and a step son, James Carlton Dill.
