Woodruff "Woody" Burris, 82, of Central Avenue, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Burris was a self employed carpenter. He attended Parkview Baptist Church. He played the guitar and banjo and sang gospel music at area nursing homes and churches with his wife. He loved the outdoors and woodworking. Mr. Burris was born Nov. 21, 1929, the son of Buford and Lile Coomer Burris. He married Mildred Fields Nov. 29, 1952. Survivors include his wife; sons, Rick (Sheila) Burris and Randy Burris, both of Columbus; daughters, Judy Enochs of Columbus and Kathy (Gene) Kelsay of Elizabethtown, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Culip Burris; sisters, Clarice Thompson and Carrie Taylor. SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 14, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home VISITATION: 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. BURIAL: Hawcreek Cemetery
