Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Columbus, Indiana

Beala Ann Rutan, who was born on January 13, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and passed away in Columbus, Indiana, was a beloved little girl whose brief life brought immeasurable love, joy, and tenderness to those around her.

Beala was born at 28 weeks, therefore spending her first several weeks in the hospital with her twin sister, Athena. Beala soon earned the badge for being the spunky one. Her nurses at Ascension St. Vincent jokingly spoke of putting her in time out, as she would grab the wires in the NICU. Beala’s spunky nature continued as she and her twin went home 80 days later.

From the very beginning, Beala was a source of delight. Beala’s life, though measured in months, was filled with moments that will remain treasured in the hearts of her family forever.

Beala was a precious six-month-old child whose presence filled her family’s days with warmth and wonder. She loved being outside and especially loved swimming. She enjoyed being carried around the house by her uncles. Though her time on earth was far too short, she left behind a lasting impression that will be cherished always by those who were blessed to know and love her.

Beala’s family will remember her as a bright light whose life was marked by innocence, love, and the promise of all that was yet to come. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew her best.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, July 17, 2026 at Jewell Rittman Funeral Service and Cremation with Pastor Gerald Hancock officiating. Calling will be from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Beala is survived by her mom, Sarah Rutan; a twin, Athena Charity Rutan; grandparents, Curt and Elizabeth Rutan, Joyce and Johnnie Rutan, and Nancy Johnson; Uncles, Caleb Rutan, Jonathan Rutan, and Noah Rutan; loving aunts Brooklynn Oliver and Nyah Holt; along with many cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Maxton Parris and great-grandpa Jim Johnson.

Memorials may be made to American SIDS institute, through the funeral home.
