Betty J. Enochs

Betty J. Enochs, 93, of Columbus, IN, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. Betty was born in Marlin, TX to Wilton J. Sullinger and Georgia Digby Sullinger. She married Robert G. “Bob” Enochs on August 27, 1949.

Betty retired from Cummins Engine Company after years of dedicated service. Retirement gave her more time to enjoy the many interests that brought her happiness, and she embraced those years with enthusiasm and gratitude.

She enjoyed reading and found pleasure in the quiet comfort of a good book. Gardening was another of her favorite pastimes, and she took delight in nurturing flowers and plants with patience and care. Betty also loved traveling with her husband Bob and appreciated the opportunity to see new places and make lasting memories along the way. She enjoyed playing golf and valued the companionship and enjoyment that came with time spent on the course.

Betty was also an avid sports fan who followed football and basketball with great interest. She especially enjoyed cheering for the Indiana Fever and was an admirer of Caitlin Clark. Watching NASCAR was another favorite pastime, and she took great pleasure in the excitement and energy of the sport.

Above all else, Betty treasured her family. She loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. She was affectionately called Granny, a name that reflected the love and closeness she shared with those nearest to her. Her family was the center of her heart, and the memories created together will remain a lasting source of comfort and gratitude.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Bill Cordes officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Daugherty Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Community Church of Columbus.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Mike) Clancy, Lyndle Arledge, Susan (Daryl) Wetherald all of Columbus, Pat Enochs of Indianapolis; half-brother, Mike (Gwen) Sullinger of Texas; half-sister, Sherry Millen of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob on August 3, 2016; sons, Jerry B. Enochs and Donald C. Enochs; brothers, Jerry Sullinger and Jim Sullinger.
