Bonnie Jean Chadwell, 71, of Columbus, IN, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. Bonnie was born in Columbus, IN on September 19, 1955 to Ralph Duvall and Reba Goodin Duvall. She married Michael L. Chadwell on June 29, 1984.
She was born on September 19, 1955, in Columbus, Indiana, and carried the values of kindness, faith, and generosity throughout her life. Bonnie was a woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. She lived with a spirit of compassion that touched many lives, and she will be remembered for the steady love she gave so freely to others.
Bonnie had a deep love for music, and it was one of the great joys of her life. She was self-taught and could play about any instrument she picked up, a gift that reflected both her natural talent and her determination. Music was more than a pastime for her. It was a part of who she was, and it brought happiness to her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of hearing her play.
Her faith in Christ was central to her life. Bonnie was a believer in Christ, and she shared that faith with those around her through her words, her actions, and the example she set each day. She led family and friends to Christ and lived in a way that reflected her devotion. Her faith gave her strength, guided her choices, and shaped the loving way she cared for others.
Bonnie was known for her generous heart and her willingness to help anyone in need. She opened her home to those who needed a place of comfort, shelter, or support, and she did so without hesitation. Her home was a place of welcome, and her kindness made many feel safe and valued. She gave of herself freely and never turned away from someone who needed help.
Family meant everything to Bonnie, and she held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, whom she loved as though they were her own children. She nurtured them with affection, encouragement, and care, and her love for them was deep and lasting. The bond she shared with her family was one of her greatest blessings, and they will carry her memory with them always.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2026 at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Dave Parman officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Freetown Cemetery, Freetown, IN.
