David Rex Bluebaum, 74, of Taylorsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was born on August 4, 1952, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Joretta Murphy and was raised in a busy and loving family alongside his four siblings.
David went on to further his education, earning both an associate degree and a Bachelor of Science degree. He began a long and rewarding career at Atterbury Job Corps, where he dedicated more than 30 years before retiring.
David was a man who truly enjoyed life and found happiness in the simple things. He loved riding his cruiser, feeling the wind in his hair, and indulging his sweet tooth—especially when it came to his favorite oatmeal raisin cookies. He was a true jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed working with his hands and spending time outdoors. Among his many interests were fishing, hunting for morel mushrooms, woodworking, and playing acoustic guitar.
Of all his hobbies, David especially enjoyed restoring classic cars, with Mustangs holding a special place in his heart. He took great pride in bringing these beautiful cars back to life and enjoyed the time and craftsmanship that went into each project.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Joretta; his adoptive father, Henry Murphy; and his brother, Philip Bluebaum.
He is survived by his daughters, Corrie Bluebaum and Krista Bluebaum (Todd Kaller); his grandchildren, Kameron Bluebaum, Kas Bluebaum, David Walby, and Devin Jones; and his siblings, Norman Bluebaum, Frank Bluebaum, and Becky Johnson.
David will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his many talents, his passion for classic cars, and most of all, the joy and love he shared with his family. He leaves behind memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
