Doyle Rich, known to family and friends simply as Doyle, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Hope, Indiana, at the age of 91.

He was born on May 31, 1934, in Union Hill, Tennessee, the son of Hobart Wilson and Dessie Mae (Cherry) Rich. Doyle carried the values of his upbringing with him throughout his long life. Doyle was a loving and friendly man whose steady presence, warm smile, and soft-hearted kind nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a deep devotion to the people and places that mattered most to him. Doyle married the love of his life, Vallie Colene Willen on July 4, 1953. She survives.

Doyle spent 42 years working at Golden Foundry, where he was respected for his dedication and dependable nature. He took pride in his work and understood the importance of showing up, doing the job well, and treating others with respect. His long career reflected the strong work ethic that defined so much of his life. Whether on the job or in everyday conversation, Doyle was the kind of man others could count on.

Outside of work, Doyle enjoyed a full and active life. He was known as a flea market guy who appreciated the simple pleasure of finding something useful, interesting, or unexpected. He enjoyed hunting rabbit and squirrel, spending time outdoors in ways that connected him to the traditions he valued. He also enjoyed auctions, where he could take part in the excitement of the crowd and the chance to discover a good find. These interests were part of the rhythm of his life and brought him enjoyment over the years.

Doyle also enjoyed playing cards and dancing with his wife, moments that reflected both his playful side and his affection for the people closest to him. He treasured time spent with family and was known as a true family man. His life was enriched by many friendships, and he valued the companionship and laughter that came from being surrounded by others. Those who knew Doyle will remember him not only for what he did, but for the way he made people feel welcomed, appreciated, and at ease.

He will be remembered for his loving heart, his friendly nature, and the many ways he showed care for others throughout his life. Doyle lived with sincerity and strength, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and kindness. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him, worked beside him, shared stories with him, and were fortunate enough to call him a friend.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Cordes officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:30 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
