Robert L. Scott, 83, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 at his home surrounded by family. Robert was born in Columbia, KY on July 30, 1943 to Ovel Scott and Mabel Patton Scott.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1962 and carried the values of that education with him throughout his life. Robert was known for his strong work ethic and his long career with Cummins Engine Company, where he retired in 2008 after 45 years of service. His years there reflected his loyalty, dependability, and pride in doing a job well.
Robert was also a faithful member of Seymour Harvest Church, where he found fellowship and a sense of belonging. His church family was an important part of his life, and he valued the friendships and encouragement he received through his involvement there.
Outside of work and church, Robert enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He especially loved attending Super Chevy Drag Racing, where he could enjoy the excitement, energy, and camaraderie of the event. It was an interest that reflected his appreciation for tradition, performance, and the thrill of the sport.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Gary W. Dyer officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Curtis Lee (Rachel) Scott of Brown County, IN, Lauretta Kay Scott of Brown County, IN and Cortnie (Matt) Wooten of Columbus, IN; brother, Ovel Dean Scott of Columbus, IN; sister, Patricia Krablean of Menasha, WI; grandchildren, George (Alicia) Scott, Nick (Tasha) Bullard, Joshua Scott, Caleb Scott, Elijah Canady, Gracie Canady and Levi Law; great grandchildren, Addysen Whitis, Landon Lawrence, Keaton Scott, Kailyn Scott; many nieces and nephews and Brother-In-Christ, Pastor Gary W. Dyer.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ovel and Mabel Scott; sisters, Anna Mae Wilmoth and Beulah Smith-Gibson.
