Scott N. Bay

Scott N. Bay, 61, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2026.

Scott was born in Columbus on May 7, 1965, to Floyd and Virginia (Borden) Bay. One of six children, Scott grew up surrounded by love and family, creating memories that would remain with him throughout his life.

Scott later married the love of his life, Melissa (Adams) Bay, and together they built a beautiful family. This year, Scott and Melissa celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary—a testament to the love, devotion, and life they shared together. They were blessed with two daughters, Erica and Kristen, who were Scott’s pride and joy. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished his family above all else.

By trade, Scott was a plumber, but his true passion was bass fishing. He was a proud member of a bass fishing club and enjoyed competing in tournaments. Anyone who knew Scott knew how much fishing meant to him. He loved being out on the water, chasing that next big catch, and sharing his passion with those around him.

One of Scott’s greatest joys was being a Papaw. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment he was able to spend with them. Whether he was with his family or out fishing, Scott was happiest doing the things he loved with the people he loved.

Scott truly lived his dream, even down to his new fishing boat and matching truck to pull it. His love of fishing, his devotion to his family, and the memories he created along the way will forever be treasured by those who knew him.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Virginia Bay.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Melissa Bay; his daughters, Erica Quarles (Dustin) and Kristen Berthouex (Andrew); his grandchildren, Aubrey, Evan, and Emily; and his siblings, David, Diane, Brenda, Nancy, and Cyndi.

Scott will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the joy he brought to those around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hotel Indigo, 400 Brown Street, Columbus, IN 47201.
